Parad (Mercury)

Parad (Mercury) is considered as a very pious metal. Idols made of Parad are extremely auspicious, sacred and is believed to be greatly beneficial to the one who worships such an idol. It is mentioned in the Vedas that there is nothing more pure, pious and auspicious than Parad.

Ayurveda also grants special importance to Parad. Ayurveda has a special branch namely ‘Rasa Shastra’ which deals with the use of Parad for curing various illnesses. In fact, the literal meaning of the word ‘Rasa Shastra’ is ‘Science of Mercury’. Mercurial preparations in Ayurveda are not toxic in nature if prepared according to classical parameters. Such medicines if consumed after proper consultation and under the guidance of an Ayurvedic Doctor assist in curing various ailments, increases the overall longevity and helps the person in maintaining good health.

“O deity (Parvati), mica is Your ovum and mercury is My sperm (semen). The union of these two eliminates death and poverty….” is a shloka from ‘Sarvadashan Grantha’.

Parad is derived from Mercury which has undergone several stages of purification and then used to make the idols. Idols made of Parad are considered to be more powerful than the idols made of metal, wood and ceramic. The Brahma Pooraan states that worshiping the idols made of Parad bring blessing from the Supreme Absolute and devotees attain final liberation.

Parad Shivlinga

According to the ancient scriptures Lord Shiva is called Destroyer. It is a part of Hindu harmony of Gods and also called the God of Regeneration. Worshiping Parad Shivlinga helps in the destruction of any kind of fear, behavioural complexes and restoring mental peace and stability in the devotee’s life. Worshiping Parad Shivlinga is believed to get prosperity, happiness, health and long life.

Parad Ganesh

Lord Ganesh is also the God of education, knowledge and wisdom, writing, and the fine arts. Parad Ganesh symbolizes the power that removes hurdles and guarantees success in all fields. Parad Ganesh passes on peace and prosperity to worshipers. Parad Ganesh idol is essential for “Siddhi” (rational and religious power) and “Riddhi” (material wealth).

Lord Ganesh symbolizes knowledge, thoughtfulness, and a selective intelligence that one must acquire to attain exactness in life.
